Our preclinical aims are to test the following hypotheses:

  1. Vessel wall thickening impairs oxygen delivery and promotes inflammation
  2. Loss of pericytes contributes to blood brain barrier opening and aggravates inflammation
  3. SVD is a consequence of suppression of glymphatic fluid transport

We will combine expertise in both in vivo and in vitro measures of brain oxygenation with advanced in vivo imaging of fluid transport to address these questions

The preclinical studies will be conducted by the teams at the University of Copenhagen, Yale University, University College London (UCL), laboratories in Paris: INSERM Charpak and INSERM Joutel, and the University of Southern California (USC).
