Ylenia Giarratano is a Research Fellow in Dr Miguel Bernabeu’s Lab at the University of Edinburgh. 

After completing her master’s degree in Mathematics for Life Sciences at the University of Trento (IT) in 2016, she pursued her academic career with a PhD in Precision Medicine at the University of Edinburgh.  Her project involved the development of medical image processing methods for the discovery of retinal biomarkers in patients with diabetes and renal disease. Her current research work focuses on the investigation of retinal microvascular changes in cerebral small vessel disease.
